Jon originally landed in Phoenix because of his wife’s job, but Arizona aligned pretty perfectly with his career interests, too. In college, Jon particularly enjoyed thermodynamic and fluid classes, and soon discovered he could apply those fundamentals to designing HVAC systems. In a desert climate, his work designing energy-efficient mechanical systems can have an especially profound environmental impact, evidenced by projects like the Chandler City Hall. “The project received LEED Gold certification with substantial energy and water savings,” he explains, incorporating multiple mechanical systems including underfloor air distribution and recycled grey water from the condenser water system. Arizona’s myriad golf courses are a good fit for Jon, too—his favorite place to spend time with friends and enjoy the outdoors.
