Ann Arbor
Our roots run deep in Ann Arbor, where our landscape architecture services were founded in 1961. Home to a wide range of design experts, our office--which was honored as Firm of the Year by the American Society of Landscape Architects Michigan Chapter in 2018--is comprised of landscape architects, civil engineers, urban designers and planners, and campus master planners. Known for our collaboration and passion to leverage global experience, diverse perspectives and future-forward thought leadership enables us to address our client’s biggest challenges with creative, context-based, holistic solutions.
Located in Ann Arbor, we are immersed in a vibrant university community that regularly shows up on all those “best places to live” lists. Home to the University of Michigan and less than an hour west of Detroit, Ann Arbor is filled with parks, trails, athletic events, and far more terrific restaurants and cultural activities than you’d expect from a metro area of 350,000. It’s all within easy reach from our Depot Street office on the northern edge of downtown. We enjoy gorgeous views of the Huron River, and are just minutes away from the city’s historic Kerrytown and Old Fourth Ward neighborhoods.
We’re a collection of big thinkers, ardent creatives, hard workers and passionate professionals focused on major markets in our built environment. As one large firm, we provide a deep pool of talent, marquee clients, stimulating work, enviable benefits and the latest in technology and training. Our Ann Arbor office benefits from these collective resources, yet still feels and operates like a small firm. The culture here is nimble, entrepreneurial and uniquely Ann Arbor, while also deeply integrated into the rest of the SmithGroup family. This has led our Ann Arbor office to be recognized as a Detroit Free Press Top Workplace for eight consecutive years.
The wide range of environments and gathering spaces throughout our office make it clear that we encourage collaboration and accommodate varying work styles. From traditional conferencing areas to huddle rooms, charrette spaces and a large, open café, you’re bound to find a favorite place to hunker down and dive into work that matters.
