Chris Heine

As a member of SmithGroup’s IMPACT team, Chris collaborates with clients and project teams on decarbonization and resilience strategies to address the climate crisis. “We not only aim to drive change by minimizing the carbon footprint of the buildings we design, but leave a handprint, too—a positive mark that helps educate others about the importance of sustainable design practices,” he explains. It was a lesson Chris began to learn in college. “It’s when I realized the significant role architects and engineers play in society, and how I could leverage my problem-solving skills to contribute to the greater good.” Chris also possesses some legit music skills. A guitarist in the band The Science Fair, he reports they’ve written and recorded six albums and have performed hundreds of shows across the Midwest. “It’s been a fantastic creative outlet for me outside of work,” Chris notes.
