Fare2Care Concept a Finalist in HCD Breaking Through Competition
Fare2Care, a future-focused concept for leveraging urban infrastructure to enable equitable access to healthcare, developed by a team at SmithGroup, has been named a finalist in Healthcare Design magazine's second Breaking Through competition.
The Breaking Through competition encourages design innovation by asking teams to develop concepts solving the challenges anticipated in the future delivery of care, without the typical restricting constraints of budget, schedule, codes, etc. HCD has hosted their Breaking Through competition once previously, and SmithGroup's IdeaLab concept was a second round participant in the inaugural competition in 2018.
The members of the SmithGroup team are Satish Atkari, TJ Howells, Kenta Kamei, Stephen Parker and Y Pham, and are supported by advisors Karthik Ramadurai, Erin McNamara and Wayne Barger.
A competition winner will be selected by public vote among the attendees of this year's HCD Virtual conference. Each of the four finalist teams will unveil their concepts on November 11, 2020, after which registrants will vote on one concept to receive a $10,000 prize. The winner will be revealed in the December issue of Healthcare Design magazine, with features of all finalists.
