Jeff Hrubec

For Jeff, architecture is all about creative problem solving. “Architects like to talk about design or detailing,” he notes. “For me, it’s the ability to solve a problem in a unique way to help a client succeed.” Especially gratifying, he adds, “is that one moment in every project where a client is just so happy with the progress of a design.” The creative problem solving needed for complex mixed-use developments particularly piques Jeff’s interest, and he credits SmithGroup’s multidisciplinary teams, technology resources, firm culture and “joyful work environment” for his career growth. Jeff is an active volunteer in his Chicago-area community, and is an accomplished skier, seeking out challenging terrain in the resort or in the backcountry.
