“I grew up to the smell of sawdust in the wood shop,” says Jamison, who still keeps a wooden letter J on his desk that he carved in 6th grade. “Access to tools and the scraps of walnut, maple or cherry meant I could build just about anything I could dream up.” Today he appreciates access to the breadth of work brought by SmithGroup clients. “Working across many different project types gives me the ability to borrow experiences from each and apply those lessons in a new light,” Jamison explains. “It’s made me a much more versatile engineer.” By any measure, Jamison is a versatile guy. He played Division 1 lacrosse at the collegiate level, studied classical guitar and is currently enjoying teaching his two young children the art, and science, of dinghy sailing. “My wife and I both love being on the water and the way it forces us to slow down and be present.”
