Clay Pendergrast
The line between art and architecture is a blurry one indeed for Clay, whose work reflects a childhood talent for illustration, a stint moonlighting as an interior designer, and diverse interests gleaned from reading, travel, art galleries and the performing arts. “Architecture struck me as the most challenging art form and unique in its synthesis of all other art forms and design types,” he remarks. "My work exhibits thoughtful care in the largest architectural features as well as in the smallest details, including furniture and accessories." Successful projects, he says, tell interesting stories that illustrate the firm’s design capabilities and forge strong, lasting client relationships. Clay sounds similarly dedicated to an ongoing after-hours pursuit: the interior and exterior renovation of his 1913 Mission-style home. “It’s my 22-year passion project with no end in sight,” he says.
