Today, we celebrate the grand opening of Michigan State University’s new Multicultural Center.
This monumental milestone marks the culmination of decades of student advocacy for a free-standing building on campus. Over 60 student ambassadors played a crucial role in shaping the MSU Multicultural Center, ensuring that the design meets the needs of underrepresented groups.
Located in the heart of campus, the 34,000-square-foot building makes a bold statement. Its prominent, protective exterior features programmable outdoor areas, perforated metal panels in various shades of green, symbolizing the spirit of multiculturalism at MSU, vertical sunshades, a cantilevered entrance, a tiered amphitheater and a ceremonial fire circle. Inside, the center offers a versatile, inclusive space with a wood-clad entry, a warm neutral palette, natural light and adaptable areas where the MSU community can engage and thrive.
