The former College of Preachers, a 1929 Neo-Gothic building on the grounds of the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, DC, has been rehabilitated to become a contemporary religious retreat and education center. Jim Shepherd will share how the building, now called the Virginia Mae Center, was transformed in a session chaired by Donald Friedman (Old Structures Engineering).

The c. 1876 Adas Israel Synagogue in Washington, DC is now part of the comprehensive and community-focused Capital Jewish Museum, dedicated to celebrating the lives and contributions of DC's local Jewish community. Susan Pommerer will present how the new museum's most prominent artifact was preserved to become an integral part of the new dynamic museum, in a session chaired by Lucy Davis (PhD Student, McGill University, Canada).
