SmithGroup is proud to announce Vince Avallone has been elevated to Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA).

ACHA provides board certification to architects who have demonstrated expertise through a body of work and informed knowledge of healthcare design and processes based on a rigorous exam. ACHA is the only specialty certification recognized by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and is also recognized by the American Society of Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association (AHA).  

Vince is a renowned medical planner based out of SmithGroup’s San Francisco location known for his passion for enhancing the patient experience and his work on prestigious hospital projects such as UC Davis Health California Tower, UC San Francisco, Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland, Alameda County’s Highland Hospital Acute Tower Replacement project, Kaiser Railyards Sacramento Hospital and Hospital Support Building,  Advocate Illinois Masonic, Center for Advanced Care, River People Health Center, and Sutter Health/California Pacific Medical Center, Van Ness Hospital. His expertise in client-driven strategy and space functionality has shaped effective medical facility planning for SmithGroup for 17 years.

Drawing upon 30 years of experience, Vince is a recognized leader in healthcare planning, having published and presented at conferences over the years and is known for his innovative approaches to unique challenges in healthcare.

Vince previously served as the President of ACHA in 2020 and was an active board member for seven years, participating in numerous committees and juries, further underscoring his extensive involvement with the organization. He is a member of the AIA and its Academy of Architecture for Health and has received a presidential commendation from the AIA San Francisco chapter for his success as the chair of its Health and Science Committee.

Vince was formally inducted during the annual ACHA Luncheon at the 2024 Healthcare Design Conference & Expo in October 2024.
