Leveraging Interprofessional Design Thinking
Challenges persist when working towards achieving interprofessional team-based practice and education. The Nexus Summit 2017: Provocative Ideas for Practical IPE brought together a community focused on solving how current and future health professionals create people-centered and outcomes-focused teams. Hosted at the Summit, Arizona State University CAIPER and SmithGroup’s interactive workshop demonstrated how leveraging design thinking can help healthcare and educational leaders navigate these challenges and uncover unprecedented solutions. Attendees—administrators, educators, practitioners, and students—engaged in a variety of design thinking exercises to re-envision and improve interprofessional education, care delivery processes, patient outcomes, and ROI.
