Diana Khadr Washington DC

Diana takes a long view of her profession. “Architecture is a pillar of civilization,” she says. “It casts a long shadow over the experiences of people who interact with the places we design... How can we help create futures yet unseen—and do it in the most responsible, impactful, inspiring way?” The inspiring part matters, she says, given that so much of our time is spent indoors. “Some level of levity and pause, in an environment where we are often doing serious work, is important to our well-being. I’m on a mission to restore joy, whimsy, and delight in architecture.” Where does she look to inspire that sensibility in her work? “Some of my favorite spaces are those that tune into our senses... whether through the material quality of the finishes used, inviting you to take a closer look, or the way natural light is filtered, luring you to bask in its warmth.”
